I am excited to have this opportunity to gain more support for the MMS school gardens. We are starting our third year and want to be able to increase our production and add fresh produce to our cafeteria salad bars. The resources and support from MSGN will help our program grow and be more successful for our students.

Amanda Ripa - Messalonskee Middle School, Oakland

It was an honor for the Hall School to host the Maine School Garden Day and all the dedicated educators that gave up their Saturday to play with new gardening ideas for their garden programs. It was a wonderful day!

Mary Dunn - Albert S. Hall School, Waterville

I love having our school garden right outside our classroom window. I love enjoying the fresh smell when I walk outside into the garden. It is also a fun and educated way to have fun. Our school gardens are a great resource. It’s so nice that all our vegetables go to our school cafeteria. I love biting into a juicyfruit or vegetable that was grown with no pesticides.

Mrs. Ocean’s 5th Grade Class - Windham, ME

I learned how deep to plant seeds and what month the plants grow in.
I learned there are rainbow carrots. I liked picking the carrots.
I liked the red lettuce. It smelled very fresh and looked nice.
I learned that cabbage can be purple!
