Falmouth School Garden Hosts First Permablitz of the Season

The Resilience Hub & Portland Maine Permaculture partnered up with the Falmouth School Gardens' superstar team of Garden Coordinator Genna Cherichello and Food Service Director Martha Poliquin to host the first Community Permablitz of the season. Working with flow and fine company, we managed to sheet mulch huge swaths of what was bare, rough ground for cafeteria and outdoor classroom garden beds, make a major push on the installation of a wildlife pond, trellis and mulch tomatoes in their new hoophouse, and even put some plants in the newly made beds! Check out the MeetUp Page to see more pictures and learn more about the event.

What is a "Permablitz" you ask?

An incredible gathering of volunteers who put permaculture into action, bringing the beautiful and productive designs from paper to reality. Visit the Resilience Hub's Maine Permablitz Network page to learn more.

Imagine 20-40 permaculture folks working side-by-side for six hours resulting in more than 180 labor hours completed in one day – not to mention equivalent hours of experiential learning, great fun and connection.
